Eric Gates co-founded Apex Home Loans, Inc., a Maryland based IMB, in 1998 and was the company President through its acquisition in December of 2021 and the merger of its operations towards the end of 2022. He was then a Division President and COO at Luminate Home Loans, Inc. through January 2024 when he retired. Gates is a former President of the Maryland Association of Mortgage Professionals, has been a longtime member of the MBA’s IMBEC, was a four-year member of RESBOG, is currently the MBA MAA Chair and is serving his second term on the Board of MBA. Gates received an BA in Economics from Tufts University, lived in the MD suburbs of DC for 29 years where he raised his family, and currently resides in San Diego with his wife Amy and 16-year-old daughter, the youngest of their three children.
