Robert D. Broeksmit, CMB, is MBA’s President and Chief Executive Officer. He is a senior finance executive and corporate officer with over 30 years of experience in the mortgage sector. He has directed all aspects of lending activities, including marketing, sales, operations, secondary marketing, loan servicing, and default management. He has also served as a mortgage underwriting expert testifying on many large, high-profile cases. Prior to joining MBA, Broeksmit served as President and Chief Operating Officer with Treliant, heading the firm’s mortgage litigation support practice. He previously held senior leadership positions in the mortgage business, including 14 years with Chevy Chase Bank (including after its purchase by Capital One) and 7 years as Vice President at Prudential Home Mortgage. He has overseen annual originations of $9 billion, a balance sheet of $10 billion in residential mortgage, and a servicing portfolio of $20 billion. He is past Chairman of MBA’s Residential Board of Governors and a member of its Board of Directors.
Jeffrey Weidell is CEO of NorthMarq, and previously president since 2013. He has been responsible for a number of the company’s initiatives, including an industry-leading associate producer program, the launch of the investment sales business, and expansion of the equity advisory business. Previously, Jeff was managing director of NorthMarq’s San Francisco office, and was an accomplished producer with Trowbridge, Kieselhorst & Company. Jeff holds a CMB designation. He serves on the MBA’s COMBOG and the Silicon Valley NAIOP Board. Jeff earned his BA in Economics from Columbia University and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Jonathan McKernan was sworn in as a member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation on January 5, 2023. Mr. McKernan previously was a Counsel to Ranking Member Pat Toomey (R-PA) on the staff of the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs from 2021 to 2022. He also has served as a Senior Counsel at the Federal Housing Finance Agency from 2019 to 2021, a Senior Policy Advisor at the Department of the Treasury from 2018 to 2019, and a Senior Financial Policy Advisor to Senator Bob Corker (R-TN) from 2017 to 2018. Prior to his government service, from 2007 to 2017, Mr. McKernan was an attorney in private practice focused on matters under the banking and consumer financial laws. Director McKernan also serves as co–chairman of a Special Committee overseeing an independent third-party review into allegations of sexual harassment and professional misconduct at the FDIC, as well as issues relating to the workplace culture at the agency. Mr. McKernan holds a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in economics from the University of Tennessee and a Juris Doctor with High Honors from the Duke University School of Law.
