Justin Wiseman

Vice President, Managing Regulatory Counsel, Mortgage Bankers Association

Justin Wiseman is Vice President and Managing Regulatory Counsel in the Public Policy and Industry Relations department at the Mortgage Bankers Association. Justin manages MBA’s Regulatory Policy team that covers legal issues, trends in litigation, regulatory compliance matters, and servicing as well as provides strategic direction to advance MBA member priorities on regulatory and legal matters. This team also analyzes pending rules and legislation, provides comments on behalf of MBA members on pending rules or regulations and helps develops MBA’s posture towards innovation and innovation policy. Prior to this, he staffed MBA’s Loan Administration committee, providing policy development insights and working with stakeholders to advocate on behalf of the industry.

Reid Manley

Partner, Burr & Forman, LLP

Reid focuses on financial services litigation, representing clients across the country and serving as a leader in several national attorney organizations. With a practice concentrated on consumer finance, he primarily represents mortgage companies. Other clients include credit card companies, personal finance firms, automotive finance businesses, and debt collectors. He has defended clients in single plaintiff cases, as well as mass actions and class actions filed by consumers. He also handles general commercial litigation, intellectual property litigation, insurance coverage disputes, and repurchase or make-whole disputes. Reid is a Fellow in the American College of Mortgage Attorneys, which is comprised of lawyers from the U.S. and Canada who are highly skilled and experienced in the preparation of real estate mortgages, lending transactions secured by real estate, and related practices. He also is a Fellow in the American College of Consumer Financial Services Lawyers, where membership is limited to those who have achieved preeminence in the field of consumer law and who have made substantial contributions through teaching, lecturing, and public writings. In addition, Reid is a member for the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, an international group of leaders in the legal community who have achieved professional distinction. He is a former board member of the FDCC, which pursues a balanced justice system and represents those in need of a defense in civil lawsuits.

Matthew P. Previn

Partner, Consumer Financial Services, Paul Hastings LLP

Mr. Previn has extensive experience representing financial institutions in a wide range of regulatory examinations, investigations, and enforcement actions brought by myriad federal and state government agencies, including the CFPB, OCC, FDIC, FRB, DOJ, FTC, HUD, and state attorneys general and state banking regulators. In addition, he counsels banks and nonbank financial services companies on consumer finance issues, and advises boards and executive management on regulatory expectations, new products and services, and corporate governance. He also defends financial services companies in consumer class actions around the country. During his more than two decades of practice, he has represented many of the country’s leading financial services companies in precedent- setting matters.

Scott Samlin

Partner, Blank Rome LLP

Scott regularly counsels clients on compliance with state and federal laws affecting mortgage lending and servicing activities, including the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, Truth in Lending Act, Equal Credit Opportunity Act, and Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. He is experienced in a myriad of consumer lending, servicing, and mortgage compliance challenges. Prior to joining Blank Rome, Scott was a partner in the financial services practice group and leader of the consumer financial services and bank regulatory practice of an Am Law 100 firm in New York. He previously served as a former executive director and compliance counsel for the residential mortgage and lending businesses at an American multinational investment bank and financial services company where he helped oversee the operations of its whole loan trading desk and affiliated mortgage loan servicer.
