Aaron Mahler is a partner in the Consumer Financial Services and Litigation group at Paul Hastings and is based in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. He has established himself as a valued counselor for financial services companies and individuals navigating government enforcement, litigation, and regulatory matters. He focuses much of his practice on representing bank and nonbank financial institutions in government examinations, investigations, and enforcement actions. Mahler regularly counsels clients on issues dealing with intersecting business and compliance considerations, where he develops practical solutions to defend clients against regulatory investigations and actions, including those involving the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), state attorneys general, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Federal Reserve. A senior attorney and compliance expert in real estate and consumer financial services, Erin Brady serves as General Counsel to Stockton Mortgage, a growing multi-channel lender operating in 30 states. Before stepping into her current role, she held roles as Senior Lead Counsel for Zillow Group, Chief Compliance Officer to Guaranteed Rate Affinity, and General Counsel for Century Mortgage Company. Brady began her career in financial services litigation prior to the housing crisis, where she assisted senior attorneys in defense of national banks and servicers. She is a former clerk and staff attorney to Kentucky’s highest courts. She has volunteered her time as an advisory board member for a high school pre-law program and as a chapter board member for the Kentucky ACC. She has been in the financial services industry for over 16 years.

Chuck Cain has been in the Title Insurance industry since 1977. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University and the Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University. He is admitted to practice in Ohio and Kentucky, several Federal District courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. He is a past trustee of the Ohio Land Title Association and is a current member of the Government Affairs Committee of ALTA. He is former chair of the Real Property Section of the Cincinnati Bar Association, a former director of the Cincinnati Mortgage Bankers Association, a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland’s Fair Credit Task Force and a recipient of a special citation from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development concerning Fair Housing Best Practices
Gary Funk is a Product Owner of Freddie Mac’s Title Initiatives and a Senior Director within Loan Products in the Freddie Mac Single-Family Acquisitions Division. He is responsible for developing Title solutions with Freddie Mac’s Sellers and establishing strong partnerships with the Title Community. In addition, he drives Seller adoption of offerings related to Collateral Valuation and Title. Prior to joining Freddie Mac in 2019, Funk worked for Black Knight, Citi Mortgage, Rabo AgriFinance, and Wells Fargo. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems and Policy Studies from Syracuse University.

Brian was General Counsel from 1994-2009 for a mid-sized midwestern bank and its 3 mortgage banking subsidiaries and prior to that worked for 5 years in commercial real estate law.
Francis "Trip" Riley represents clients who are facing complex civil litigation filed by a single plaintiff, as well as class actions, arising from commercial and consumer financing, consumer-facing services and product sales, and business-to-business transactions and competition. He prides himself on understanding his clients' unique businesses and partners with them to help achieve results in line with their goals in the often highly charged setting of civil litigation.
