MISMO Honors Annual Award Recipients at 2025 Winter Summit

    MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla.  (January 16,2025) – MISMO®, the real estate finance industry's standards organization, announced the recipients of its MISMO Awards program during a ceremony held at its 2025 Winter Summit. The MISMO Awards program recognizes volunteer contributors for their efforts to solve issues or create new opportunities on behalf of the industry.

    “Among a field of dedicated MISMO volunteers, we are pleased to recognize these honorees for their exceptional contributions to MISMO and the broader industry. These recipients are lending their expertise and skill sets and demonstrating a high level of commitment to enhancing how the mortgage finance ecosystem can operate most effectively,” said Rick Hill, President of MISMO.

    MISMO presented its Standards Champion Award to two recipients. Devin Caster of CoreLogic was recognized for his work to expand educational efforts and broader adoption within the technology enablement domains, including artificial intelligence, blockchain and Web3 technology. David Young of Housing Action Illinois and the National Housing Resource Center was recognized for his work as chair of the Housing Counseling workgroup and his role in the development of the soon-to-be-released MISMO Housing Counseling dataset.

    The Outstanding Contributor Award is presented from to the person or people who stood out over the course of the past year with their contribution to the organization. This award was presented to two honorees. Shawn Jobe of Credit Interlink was honored for his work related to the Federal Housing Finance Agency-required (FHFA) credit score changes for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Jobe has been a critical leader and subject-matter expert in enabling industry collaboration and a better industry-wide understanding of the impact of these changes. Key participants of the Regulatory Compliance Examination File workgroup were also honored for their involvement in developing MISMO's Mortgage Compliance Dataset (MCD) specification. Special recognition was given to Kevin Byers of Conference of State Bank SupervisorsSonya McCumber of ComplianceEase, a SitusAMC Company, and Michael Jackman of Asurity.

    MISMO’s Chairman’s Award honors an individual who has made a substantial contribution over an extended period to the advancement of the organization and/or the standards and is selected by the Chairs of each of MISMO’s committees. Colleen Flaxington, CMSP, and Director of Industry Standards at Freddie Mac, was honored for her continued service to the industry. In particular, Flaxington streamlined the standards  review process while serving as chair of MISMO's Information Management (IM) workgroup for the past three years and was instrumental in the 2023 Workgroup Alignment Task Force, providing insight and recommendations that resulted in improved communication and governance within MISMO’s workgroups. Flaxington was also instrumental in helping to design MISMO’s early educational programs.

    MISMO also gave special recognition to Bill Klumper of FirstStep Software Systems, who is retiring, for his contribution to the industry. Over the years, Klumper served in MISMO leadership as the Co-chair of MISMO’s Architecture Workgroup (AWG); as Vice Chair of MISMO’s Residential Standards Governance Committee; as Chair of the Council of Chairs. He also volunteered to chair multiple workgroups and participated in several others.
