Secondary and Capital Markets Committee

The Secondary & Capital Markets Committee monitors secondary market activity and issues and serves as an information resource and a policy formation advisory group for MBA. Issues of interest to the committee range from securities disclosure and GSE mission boundaries to the development of more competition in the secondary market through the FHLB programs or the revitalization of FHA and Ginnie Mae. Program structuring changes and clarifications involving the GSEs and Ginnie Mae are also organized through the committee. Issues of interest to the housing finance community in general, such as predatory lending and RESPA, are also subjects of the committee's interest.

More About Residential Committees

What do the residential committees do? Actually, they perform a number of functions. In conference calls, emails and in-person meetings, they advance MBA's national/federal advocacy agenda by providing a forum for the analysis of legislative, regulatory or industry issues. They also serve as a means to inform Association staff of any emerging real estate finance issues. They are one of the primary means through which Association policy is developed. The committees are also communications tools for professionals within the industry. Lastly, the residential committees are also a method by which future MBA leaders are identified and developed.
