Loretta Salzano founded the firm in 1997 to provide practical legal solutions to mortgage lenders. The firm takes pride in its unique ability to counsel clients on how to achieve their goals while navigating the complex tapestry of federal law and the laws of all 50 states. Loretta focuses on fair lending, compensation and RESPA. She also prepares contracts (including warehouse and loan purchase agreements); troubleshoots to mitigate damages; and advocates with regulators. Among her many honors, Loretta was named a Top Compliance Lawyer by Mortgage Compliance Magazine and serves as Legal Counsel to the Mortgage Bankers Association of Georgia.
Michael is President of Compliability Solutions, an advisory services and staffing company focused on optimizing compliance, quality, and risk solutions in highly regulated industries. Prior to founding Compliability Solutions, Michael served as a Senior Vice President at Mr. Cooper Group where his Servicing Advisory Team was responsible for Issues Management, Change of Law, and Quality Control, as well as formulating and executing on strategic initiatives that mitigate risk in Servicing. Michael was formerly the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of Bayview/Community Loan Servicing where he was responsible for the Compliance and Oversight Department’s management, leadership and direction as well as the company’s overall compliance strategy. Prior to joining Bayview, Michael was Practice Leader of Ballard Spahr’s nationally recognized Mortgage Banking Group. With over 25 years servicing the industry in a wide variety of legal and compliance-related functions, working with/for hundreds of financial services companies, Michael is known for his ability to navigate the regulatory landscape, operationalize advice and build relationships that add value to those with whom he works. Michael received his law degree from Catholic University in Washington, DC, and his undergraduate degree in Government and Law and English from Lafayette College in Easton, PA.

Jodi Gaines is a seasoned professional with 35 years of experience in the mortgage industry, currently holding the position of CEO of CRFS. Jodi’s journey in the mortgage industry began as claims clerk at Anchor Mortgage, showcasing her commitment and work ethic. Over the years, she steadily ascended the management ranks, accumulating valuable insights and expertise. In 2002, Jodi’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to help establish Claims Recovery Financial Services “CRFS” at her kitchen table. Under her leadership, CRFS flourished into a thriving enterprise with over 600 employees. In 2019 Jodi transitioned to join Insight One until March of 2024, when she returned to CRFS. Jodi is also the President of Orleans of United Way & Secretary of the Finance Committee for Holy Family Parish.
Benjamin Gottheim and his team are responsible for creating policy regarding all aspects of mortgage servicing at Freddie Mac. This includes updates to the Freddie Mac Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide and other terms of business. Before his current role, he spent his first two years at Freddie Mac managing a department responsible for foreclosure performance, timelines, and compensatory fees. Before joining Freddie Mac, Gottheim was an NPL buyer at a small mortgage company in Albany, New York, responsible for purchasing and servicing non-performing mortgage assets and REO. He earned his B.S. in management from Binghamton University with a double concentration in finance and MIS.
Donna Schmidt is the President/CEO of DLS Servicing and WaterfallCalc. DLS Servicing offers loss mitigation review and support services (document preparation and mailing), servicing quality control, loss mitigation claim filing and default consulting. WaterfallCalc is an online loss mitigation analysis and calculation application that processes all loan types, including FHA, VA, Rural Housing, Fannie Mae SMDU integration, Freddie Mac RESOLVE integration, FHLB, FHA ONAP, proprietary loans and includes loss mitigation specific escrow analysis, document preparation, FHA claim filing and title ordering.
Leveraging substantive legal, bankruptcy, and technology expertise, Joe Smith serves as Managing Director of Stretto. Early in his career, he co-founded and served as CEO for Default Mitigation Management, LLC (DMM), and was instrumental in positioning the company for acquisition by Stretto. Alongside his DMM role, Joe was Senior Executive Vice President of Consumer Financial Services and Mortgage Subserving at Provident Bank for 25 years. At Stretto, Smith leads a multi-disciplinary team of internal industry experts and technologists to enhance the DMM Portal to meet stakeholders’ evolving needs, including the diverse challenges facing both Attorneys and loan servicers. Gleaning insight from decades of experience collaborating with bankruptcy Attorneys and their clients, he provides valuable guidance to Stretto’s technology team related to crucial software enhancements to maintain up-to-date court-required forms and ensure borrowers meet regulatory compliance. Smith supports Stretto’s efforts to expand adoption of the DMM Portal by maintaining his professional network of colleagues across a wide breadth of industries, including government, healthcare, and education. As a vocal advocate, he is an active member of NACTT and NACBA, serving as a loan modification resource, providing valuable knowledge and insight to an evolving industry.
David Vida the Chief Revenue Officer of LoanCare. He was previously the EVP & Enterprise Sales Leader for Computershare Loan Services. He is responsible for leading the company’s growth across all its business lines. David has been with the company for over four years and previously led client management and business development for the servicing division. Prior to joining CLS, he served as President of LenderLive Network, LLC. Additionally, David founded Acqura Loan Services and held senior executive positions at H&R Block/Option One Mortgage, Master Financial, and City Mortgage Services. He brings over 30 years of mortgage banking, technology, leadership, and financial management experience.
