Alex Casas

Assistant Director, Research and Technical Activities Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)

Alex Casas is an assistant director of research and technical activities at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB). In this role, he provides strategic and technical oversight of projects that analyze technical accounting issues and recommends solutions that contemplate the needs of financial statement users as well as related implementation considerations.

Before joining the FASB Staff, Casas accumulated 14 years of financial services industry experience in the banking and insurance sectors. Most recently, he served as the global head of accounting policy for a global systemically important bank, where he led an international team of accounting professionals advising on a wide range of complex transactions, new product developments, strategic initiatives, and accounting standards implementations. Prior to banking, he held a variety of accounting policy and finance roles in the insurance sector and began his career in public accounting at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Casas holds a CPA license in the state of Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration, magna cum laude.
