This session highlights recent cases and litigation developments relating to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).

Robert represents financial institutions and mortgage companies across the United States. He has handled matters both at the pre-litigation and initial complaint filing phase as well as being employed during discovery, to depose expert witnesses and at the pre-trial phase to assist the current counsel. On the compliance side, Robert has worked with both legal and business managers for multiple clients to draft and outline procedures in response to pending or new legislation. Robert is a regular speaker at national industry conferences. He is Faculty Fellow with MBA’s School of Mortgage Banking.

Christa Bieker represents financial services clients in connection with government investigations, supervisory examinations, and other government requests relating to a variety of consumer finance laws and regulations, including the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Truth in Lending Act, and federal and state prohibitions against unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts or practices. She has experience representing clients in investigations led by a wide range of agencies such as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. She also counsels clients on compliance with consumer finance laws.

Brandon T. White is a privacy, data security and consumer litigation attorney in Holland and Knight's Miami and Atlanta offices. He is well versed in data privacy laws and regulations, and is accredited as a Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). As part of his data strategy, security and privacy practice, Mr. White conducts internal investigations of data breaches and provides class action defense, including website wiretap litigation. He also counsels clients on information governance, including privacy policies, procedures and best practices. In his consumer litigation practice, Mr. White focuses on the defense of financial institutions and businesses in consumer class and individual matters concerning the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and corresponding state consumer protection statutes. He also provides risk management and regulatory compliance counseling on these topics.
