CREF TRACK: Benchmarking a CRE Mortgage Banking Firm
Every CRE finance firm is different but with many key functions and activities. Thanks to the work of MBA’s CREF Financial Officers Roundtable, we are getting a better view into the operations of firms and some key benchmarks. This session provides an overview of some key findings and includes a discussion of what next steps most benefit MBA member firms.

Jamie Woodwell is Vice President in the Research and Economics group at MBA, where he oversees MBA's research and related activities covering the commercial and multifamily real estate markets. Woodwell and his work are regularly cited in the media, on Capitol Hill and in regulatory settings. He is a regular speaker at industry and corporate events; has appeared on CNBC, Bloomberg and in other popular and trade press; and testified before the Congressional Oversight Panel for TARP. Woodwell initiated many of MBA's research activities and created MBA's Peer Business Roundtables and the CREF Careers program. He joined MBA in 2004 from Fannie Mae, where he was responsible for multifamily data initiatives.

Robert Billings is the Accounting Director of CBRE Capital Markets - Debt and Structured Finance. Robert joined CBRE in June 2019 and is responsible for the oversight of the accounting for the Company’s U.S. operations. Prior to joining CBRE, Robert spent three years as the Controller of Nitya Capital, a private equity multifamily asset management company and three years as an auditor in public accounting with BDO. Billings earned an MS in Accounting from Sam Houston State University and earned his certification as a CPA in July 2016.
